Montessori Programs

Primary Program

The Primary Classroom offers a rich environment that contains increased difficulty of practical life skills and sensorial work. The primary student continues to build upon the reading, math, and language foundation that had previously begun. The foundation is strengthened as students build three and four letter phonetic words and phrases, the decimal system becomes the basis for solving math problems, and vocabularies grow through conversation, discussion, and unit studies.

Geography is introduced and hemispheres, continents, land and landforms, oceans, and native animals find a joyous home with these students. It is now that each begins to understand the world is vast and much more than known previously.

As students interact socially, problems surface and offer real opportunities for practice in grace and courtesy. Language, communication, and negotiation skills develop especially, when the need is seemingly, to the children, so urgent.
