Kindergarten

kindergartenThe Kindergarten community is full of wonder. Practical Life skills are a way of life as the children take personal responsibility for their community by keeping it clean, ordered, purposeful, and decorated with work. By now, students have learned to manage and take responsibility for their own personal needs. Grace and courtesy in and out of the classroom is evident and displayed spontaneously.

Students work hard learning to write, increasing geography skills, and continuing to develop a foundation in math and reading. Sewing and handwork activities aid the development of eye/hand coordination in addition to reinforcing other areas of the curriculum. Movement and other motor development activities help to develop coordination and dexterity as well as sportsmanship. Music and art activities help to develop both sides of the brain and skills in these two areas.

The classroom environment is rich with “work” on the shelves containing concepts to be discovered, and skills to be increased. Social problems will be sorted, and confidence will be gained as students develop friendships and learn that their words and acceptable actions are a means to positive relationships.
